Shanta Durga temple
If architecture interests you then you will find the Shanta Durga temple fascinating. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Shanta Durga and once upon a time it was only a smallish hut. The destruction of the hut in the 18th century by the Portuguese led to the creation of a lovely stone temple. Right now this is a huge temple complex with a red and white majestic architectural style that combines Indian and Portuguese design concepts. The look is completely different from any standard Hindu temple. This temple has adjacent guesthouses for visitors and devotees.
Mahadev Temple
The Mahadev Temple in Tambdi Surla has very pristine surroundings. Verdant greenery surrounds it on all sides and it’s known as the most ancient Goanese temple that survived the mass Christianisation of Goa that was spearheaded by the Portuguese. Though the temple is small it’s beautifully designed and very strong…it has been able to fend off the several Muslim invasions that happened during its existence. Locals say that a majestic King Cobra dwells in the interiors of the temple making it even more attractive to tourists and nature lovers.
Mahalakshmi Temple
The mahalakshmi temple is situated near Panda and it’s a must visit if you are looking for a good Hindu spiritual destination in Goa. A lovely Idol made of panchloha was made…tis is actually a unique combination of lead, silver, copper, gold and silver. The temple is a true copy of mahalakshmi temple in Kolhapur which is main hub of Shakti worshippers. The aesthetics of the temple and its interiors are beautiful.

This has a swayambhu or naturally made shrine that has seen the fulfilment of many wishes expressed by devotees. People say that the temple was here since ancient years and a cow herder had discovered the idol of Shiva perchance.
